The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and amid the extended shade 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virginal, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
