The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah, who lived before them, had also rejected (Our guidance). They rejected Our servant and said, "He is an insane person so let us drive him away". 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
