۞ He it is Who created you from a single being, and of the same (kind) did He make his mate, that he might incline to her; so when he covers her she bears a light burden, then moves about with it; but when it grows heavy, they both call upon Allah, their Lord: If Thou givest us a good one, we shall certainly be of the grateful ones. 189 But when He gives them a good [child], they ascribe partners to Him concerning that which He has given them. Exalted is Allah above what they associate with Him. 190 Do they associate with Him those who create nothing and are themselves created? 191 and that have no power to help them, neither they help themselves? 192 and, if you pray to them for guidance, do not respond to you? As far as you are concerned, it is all one whether you invoke them or keep silent. 193 Those whom you invoke besides God are created beings like you. So call on them and let them answer your call, if what you say is true. 194 What, have they feet wherewith they walk, or have they hands wherewith they lay hold, or have they eyes wherewith they see, or have they ears wherewith they give ear? Say: 'Call you then to your associates; then try your guile on me, and give me no respite. 195 Surely my guardian is Allah, Who revealed the Book, and He befriends the good. 196 And those whom you call upon besides Him are not able to help you, nor can they help themselves. 197 and if you pray unto them for guidance, they do not hear; and though thou mayest imagine that they behold thee, they do not see." 198 Have forgiveness, preach the truth, and keep away from the ignorant ones. 199 And if there prompt thee a prompting from the Satan, seek refuge with Allah; verily He is Hearing, Knowing. 200 Indeed those who fear get alerted whenever a temptation from the devil troubles them, and they perceive immediately. 201 Their brethren plunge them further into error and cease not. 202 And when you bring them not a revelation they say: Why do you not forge it? Say: I only follow what is revealed to me from my Lord; these are clear proofs from your Lord and a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe. 203 And when the Qur’an is recited, listen to it attentively and keep silent, so that you receive mercy. 204 And remember your Lord within yourself humbly and fearing and in a voice not loud in the morning and the evening and be not of the heedless ones. 205 Those who are with your Lord are not too proud to worship Him. They exalt Him and to Him they prostrate. ۩ 206
