The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
