The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit of what they select 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virginal, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
