But the leaders of his people who denied the truth and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, because We had granted them ease and plenty in their worldly life, said, "This is only a human being like yourselves, he eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink, 33 If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, you will certainly be losers. 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised! 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be resurrected. 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 He said: my Lord! vindicate for they belie me. 39 He replied: 'Before long, by the morning, they shall be remorseful' 40 And the Cry seized them in justice and We made them withered. So begone with the harmdoing nation. 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 Then We sent Musa (Moses) and his brother Harun (Aaron), with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and manifest authority, 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves, and their people are obedient to us with humility (and we use them to serve us as we like)." 47 Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might be guided. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them a refuge on a hillside where there was a hollow and a spring. 50
