The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
