The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 arise and give warning! 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 purify your garments; 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then looked he, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
