99 verses, revealed in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are the verses of the Book and the glorious Quran. 1 Soon will the time come when the unbelievers will wish they were Muslims. 2 Leave them to feast and revel, beguiled by hope; they will come to know soon. 3 And We have not destroyed a town but there was therefor a decree known. 4 No nation can anticipate its term, nor delay it. 5 (The unbelievers have said), "You to whom the Quran has been revealed are insane. 6 Why bringest thou not angels unto us, if thou art of the truthful? 7 We do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved. 8 We have, without doubt, sent down the Message; and We will assuredly guard it (from corruption). 9 We have sent forth before you Messengers among the factions of the ancients. 10 But never came a messenger to them but they mocked him. 11 thus We cause this [habit of mocking] to enter into the hearts of the sinful. 12 They do not believe in him, and the tradition of earlier nations has passed. 13 Yet even had We opened to them a gateway to heaven and they had ascended, on and on, up to it, 14 They would certainly say: Only our eyes have been covered over, rather we are an enchanted people. 15

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
