Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a high Garden 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
