He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 uplifted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Dust shall cover them 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
