The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 when their brother Hud said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has given you all the things you know. 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 this is nothing but a habit of the ancients: 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
