The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 The closing night, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
