The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 that ran on under Our Eyes, a recompense for him because he had been disbelieved. 14 And We left the Ark as a Sign. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
