Hizb 46

Jonah too was one of the Envoys; 139 when he ran away to the laden ship 140 cast lots, and was among the losers. 141 So the whale swallowed him, for he was blameworthy, 142 And had he not been of those who [even in the deep darkness of their distress are able to] extol God's limitless glory, 143 He would have tarried in its belly till the day when they are raised; 144 ۞ Then We cast him on to the vacant surface of the earth while he was sick. 145 and caused a gourd tree to grow over him, 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand men or more, 147 So they accepted faith We therefore gave them usage for a while. 148 So ask them for a pronouncement -- Has thy Lord daughters, and they sons? 149 or is it that We have created the angels female, and they [who believe them to be divine] have witnessed [that act of creation]? 150 Is it not a lie invented by them when they say: 151 That “Allah has offspring”; and indeed, surely, they are liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How judge ye? 154 Will ye not then receive admonition? 155 Or, do you have a clear authority? 156 Then bring your book, if ye say sooth. 157 And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment]. 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 Not thus, however, [behave] God's true servants: 160 Wherefore verily neither ye nor that which ye worship, 161 Can tempt anyone to rebel against Him. 162 Save him Who is to roast in the Flaming Fire. 163 As for us, there is none but has an appointed station. 164 we are the rangers, 165 and we are of those who glorify Allah.” 166 And surely they used to say: 167 "Had we received guidance from the people living before us, 168 we would surely have been Allah's chosen servants.” 169 Yet they disbelieve therein. Presently they shall come to know. 170 Our Word had already preceded Our worshipers, the Messengers, 171 That they verily would be made triumphant. 172 And that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors. 173 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile, 174 And see them thou; they themselves shall presently see. 175 Would they hasten on Our doom? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 178 And (then) see, for they too shall see. 179 Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe. 180 And peace upon the messengers. 181 And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 182
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
