The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!' 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 that ran on under Our Eyes, a recompense for him because he had been disbelieved. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
