Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust: 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 Erect palaces (thinking) that you will live for ever, 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 And orchards and springs. 134 "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day." 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 And we are not going to be tormented. 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
