Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 Noah said: “My people, I have certainly been sent as a clear warner to you, 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 That He may forgive you somewhat of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Lo! the term of Allah, when it cometh, cannot be delayed, if ye but knew. 4 [And after a time, Noah] said: "O my Sustainer! Verily, I have been calling unto my people night and day 5 But the more I called, they only ran the farther away. 6 Every time I have called to them, so that You might forgive them, they have only thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 Then I summoned them openly, 8 And declared to them in public and in private, 9 And I said: ask forgiveness of your Lord; verily He is ever Most Forgiving. 10 and He will loose heaven upon you in torrents 11 And will give you increase of wealth and sons, and give you gardens and springs of water. 12 What is the matter with you that you deny the greatness of God, 13 While He has created you in stages? 14 "'See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp? 16 God made you grow from the earth. 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 "'And Allah has made the earth for you as a carpet (spread out), 19 That ye may thread the valley-ways thereof. 20
