Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the break of Day 1 by the Ten Nights, 2 And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah). 3 And by the night when it departeth, 4 Is there in that an oath for the mindful? 5 Did you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) not see (thought) how your Lord dealt with 'Ad (people)? 6 Iram of the pillars, 7 the like of which was never created in the land, 8 And (with) Samood, who hewed out the rocks in the valley, 9 and with Pharaoh of the stakes? 10 Who committed inordinacy in the cities, 11 And multiplied corruption. 12 So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment. 13 Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them). 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," 15 whereas, whenever He tries him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Sustainer has disgraced me!" 16 (Since wealth does not necessarily guarantee everlasting happiness) then why do you not show kindness to the orphans, 17 Nor urge upon each other the feeding of the poor, 18 and you devour the inheritance greedily, 19 and you ardently love wealth. 20 No indeed! When the earth is ground to powder, 21 and when your Lord appears with rows upon rows of angels, 22 And hell is brought near that day; on that day man will remember, but how will the remembrance (then avail him)? 23 He will say, "Would that I had done some good deeds for this life". 24 Upon that day none shall chastise as He chastises, 25 and none can bind with bonds like His. 26 O satisfied soul, 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], 28 And enter among My [righteous] servants 29 into My Paradise. 30
God the Almighty always says the truth.
