Let the dead earth be a Sign for them. We gave it life and produced from it grain whereof they eat. 33 We made in it gardens of date-palms and vines, and We caused springs to gush forth 34 That they may enjoy the fruits of this (artistry): It was not their hands that made this: will they not then give thanks? 35 Glory be to Him, who created all the pairs of what the earth produces, and of themselves, and of what they know not. 36 A sign for them is the night. From it We withdraw the day and they are in darkness. 37 And the sun -- it runs to a fixed resting-place; that is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing. 38 And the moon, We have determined it in phases till it returns like an old palmbranch. 39 The sun shall not outstrip the moon, nor shall the night outstrip the day. Each is floating in an orbit. 40 And a sign unto them is that We bear their offspring in a laden ship. 41 And We have created for them similar (vessels) on which they ride. 42 And if We list, We shall drown them, and there will be no shout for them, nor will they be saved. 43 except Our mercy which could enable them to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 44 When it is said to such people: “Guard yourselves against what is ahead of you and what has preceded you that mercy be shown to you” (they pay scant heed to it). 45 And there comes not to them a communication of the communications of their Lord but they turn aside from it. 46 And when it is said to them: Spend out of what Allah has given you, those who disbelieve say to those who believe: Shall we feed him whom, if Allah please, He could feed? You are in naught but clear error. 47 And they say, “When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?” 48 The Truth is that they are waiting for nothing but a mighty Blast to seize them the while they are disputing (in their worldly affairs), 49 And they will not be able to make a disposition, nor to their family they return. 50
