Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Ha Mim 1 By the clear Book, 2 Verily We! We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that haply ye may reflect. 3 It is in the Origin of the Book with Us, sublime and wise. 4 Should We have withdrawn the Reminder from you as you are a people who exceed the bounds? 5 And how many a prophet did We send to people of olden times! 6 But never yet came a prophet to them without their deriding him 7 We utterly destroyed them although they were greater in might than these. The examples of ancient peoples have gone before. 8 (Muhammad), if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will certainly say, "The Majestic and All-knowing God has created them". 9 He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you, and appointed ways for you therein, that haply you may be guided; 10 And (it is He), who sends down water from the sky in its measure thereby We revive the land that was dead, as such you shall be brought forth. 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say. "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it. 13 Surely we have to go back to our Lord." 14 Yet they assign to some of His slaves a share with Him (by pretending that He has children, and considering them as equals or co-partners in worship with Him). Verily, man is indeed a manifest ingrate! 15
