Noah called to Us; and how excellent were the Answerers! 75 And We rescued him and his household from the great calamity. 76 and caused his offspring to endure [on earth]; 77 and We established for him a good name among posterity. 78 'Peace be upon Noah among all beings!' 79 As such We recompense the gooddoers, 80 Verily he was of Our bondmen believing. 81 We drowned the rest. 82 ۞ AND, BEHOLD, of his persuasion was Abraham, too, 83 when he came unto his Lord with a pure heart, 84 and asked his father and his people, "What is that you worship? 85 "Is it a falsehood- gods other than Allah- that ye desire? 86 What do you think of the Lord of the Worlds' 87 Then he looked up at the stars (they worshipped), 88 And said: "I am sick (of what you worship)!" 89 So they turned away from him, and departed (for fear of the disease). 90 Then he turned to their gods, and said: 'What do you eat? 91 What is the matter with you that you do not speak? 92 Then he turned against them secretly, smiting them with the right hand. 93 Then they (the worshippers of idols) came, towards him, hastening. 94 He said: Worship ye that which ye yourselves do carve 95 When Allah hath created you and what ye make? 96 They said: Build for him a building and fling him in the red-hotfire. 97 They wanted to harm him, but We humiliated them all. 98 And [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me. 99 Abraham prayed, "Lord, grant me a righteous son". 100 Wherefore We gave him the glad tidings of a boy gentle. 101 And [one day,] when [the child] had become old enough to share in his [father's] endeavours, the latter said: "O my dear son! I have seen in a dream that I should sacrifice thee: consider, then, what would be thy view!" [Ishmael] answered: "O my father! Do as thou art bidden: thou wilt find me, if God so wills, among those who are patient in adversity!" 102 So when they both submitted and he threw him down upon his forehead, 103 We called to him, "O Abraham, 104 You have fulfilled your dream." Thus do We reward the good. 105 Indeed this was a clear test. 106 And We ransomed him with a tremendous sacrifice, 107 and left him thus to be remembered among later generations: 108 'Peace be upon Abraham' 109 Thus do We reward the good-doers. 110 He was one of Our believing servants. 111 We gave him the glad news of the birth of Isaac, one of the righteous Prophets. 112 We blessed him and Isaac: but of their progeny are (some) that do right, and (some) that obviously do wrong, to their own souls. 113
