And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 Fear Allah and do not disgrace me' 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 and turned the land upside down, and rained down stones of baked clay. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
