The people of Lot rejected the Messengers, branding them liars. 160 Recall, when their brother Lot said to them: "Have you no fear? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 163 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 164 Do you, in the world, want to have carnal relations with males 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? No, but you are a transgressing nation' 166 Said they: "Indeed, If thou desist not, O Lot, thou wilt most certainly be expelled [from this township]!" 167 He said: "I am one of those who abhor your practice. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my people from that they do.' 169 So We saved him and his household, every one, 170 except an old woman who remained behind. 171 But the rest We destroyed utterly. 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 174 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
