The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
