The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
