۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Indeed, today they are surrendering themselves completely.” 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand' 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do - 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits, and they shall be highly honored, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” 51 who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). 57 Are we then not to die 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
