(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust: 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 this is nothing but a habit of the ancients: 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
