The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of later ages, 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and banana trees, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the right. 38
