Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Indeed yes, We are able to shape his fingerstips yet again! 4 But man desires to persist in his evil ways. 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 on that Day man will ask, "Where can I escape?" 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. 12 On that Day the human shall be informed of his former and latter deeds. 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 even though they make excuses. 15 Stir not thy tongue herewith to hasten it. 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 We shall be responsible for its explanation. 19 Human beings certainly do not want to pay much attention to the Quran. In fact, they love the worldly life 20 and are heedless of the Everlasting Life. 21 That day will faces be resplendent, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 and people ask, "Is there any wizard [that could save him]?" 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
