۞ God is He who has subjected to you the sea, that the ships may run on it at His commandment, and that you may seek His bounty; haply so you will be thankful. 12 And has subjected for you all whatever is in the heavens and in the earth, by His command; indeed in this are signs for people who ponder. 13 Tell all who have attained to faith that they should forgive those who do not believe in the coming of the Days of God, [since it is] for Him [alone] to requite people for whatever they may have earned. 14 Whoever acts righteously, does so to his own good; and whoever commits an evil will suffer its consequence. All of you will then be sent back to your Lord. 15 We gave the children of Israel the Book, and the judgement and the prophethood, provided them with good things, favoured them over other people, 16 We gave them clear directions in matters pertaining to religion. Yet they differed among themselves (not out of ignorance but) after knowledge had come to them; and they did so out of the desire to commit excesses against one another. On the Day of Resurrection Allah will judge among them regarding what they had differed. 17 Then We have made you follow a course in the affair, therefore follow it, and do not follow the low desires of those who do not know. 18 Surely they will not avail thee aught against God. Surely the evildoers are friends one of the other; God is the friend of the godfearing. 19 This is an enlightenment for mankind, and a guidance and mercy for the people of faith. 20 Do the evil-doers imagine that We shall make them equal to those who believe and do good, making their lives and deaths alike? How vile is their judgement! 21
