O you apostles, eat things that are clean, and do things that are good. We are surely cognisant of what you do. 51 And verily! This your religion (of Islamic Monotheism) is one religion, and I am your Lord, so keep your duty to Me. 52 But people later cut up their religion into bits, each group rejoicing in what they have. 53 So leave thou them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Think they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We provide them 55 We vie in good works for them? Nay, but they are not aware. 56 Verily those who for fear of their Lord are in awe. 57 And they who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 who associate none with their Lord in His Divinity, 59 And those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord;- 60 to God, these are the ones who really compete with each other in virtuous deeds and are the foremost ones in the task. 61 And We do not lay on any soul a burden except to the extent of its ability, and with Us is a book which speaks the truth, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly. 62 But their hearts are in ignorance of this (Koran); and they have deeds besides that which they are doing. 63 Until when We overtake those who lead easy lives among them with punishment, lo! they cry for succor. 64 'Groan not today; surely you shall not be helped from Us. 65 Time and again were My messages conveyed unto you, but [every time] you would turn about on your heels 66 “Priding yourself in serving the Sacred Mosque; at night you utter indecent stories in it, while discarding the truth.” 67 Pondered they not over the Word? or came there unto them that which came not unto their fathers ancient? 68 Or, is it that they recognised not their apostle, and so of him they become deniers? 69 Or do they say: There is madness in him? Nay! he has brought them the truth, and most of them are averse from the truth. 70 Had the truth followed their desires, the heavens and the earth and all that is in them would have been destroyed. We sent them the Quran but they ignored it. 71 (Do they disbelieve because) you asked them for payment? The reward that you will receive from your Lord is the best. He is the best Provider. 72 And indeed, you invite them to a straight path. 73 but, behold, those who will not believe in the life to come are bound to deviate from that way. 74 ۞ Were We to be merciful to them and remove from them their present afflictions, they would persist in their transgression, blindly wandering on. 75 And indeed, We tested them through suffering, but they did not abase themselves before their Sustainer; and they will never humble themselves 76 when We opened on them a gate of severe punishment, they utterly despaired. 77
