The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
Almighty God's Truth.
