Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a Garden on high, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
