Abraham was, certainly, an obedient and upright person. He was not a pagan. 120 ever thankful for His favors. He chose him and He guided him to a Straight Path. 121 We granted him virtue in this life and he shall be among the righteous ones in the life to come. 122 Then We revealed Our will to you [O Muhammad], saying, "Follow the religion of Abraham, the upright in faith; he was not one of the polytheists." 123 As for the Sabbath, it was imposed on those who had differed about it; and your Lord will tell them on the Day of Resurrection what it was they had differed about. 124 CALL THOU [all mankind] unto thy Sustainer's path with wisdom and goodly exhortation, and argue with them in the most kindly manner - for, behold, thy Sustainer knows best as to who strays from His path, and best knows He as to who are the right-guided. 125 And if you mete out punishment, then punish similarly as you were afflicted; and if you patiently endure, then indeed patience is better for the patiently enduring. 126 Endure with patience, for your endurance is not without the help of God. Do not grieve for them, and do not be distressed by their plots. 127 Truly, Allah is with those who fear Him (keep their duty unto Him), and those who are Muhsinun (good-doers, - see the footnote of V. 9:120). 128
