Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a high Garden 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
