Say: "I am only a warner, and there is no other god but God, the one, the omnipotent, 65 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, the Mighty, the most Forgiving. 66 Say: 'It is a mighty tiding 67 From which you turn away. 68 I had no knowledge of the exalted assembly [of angels] when they were disputing [the creation of Adam]. 69 "Only this has been inspired to me, that I am a plain warner." 70 When your Lord said to the angels: “Verily I am creating a human being from clay. 71 And when I have made him and have breathed into him of My spirit. Fall down in homage before him." 72 So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely. 73 except iblis (satan, the father of the jinn), he became too proud, for he was one of the unbelievers. 74 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What prevented you from prostrating before one whom I have created with My hands*? Have you become proud or were you haughty from the beginning?” (Used as a metaphor). 75 He said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay." 76 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 77 and My curse shall remain upon you till the Day of Resurrection.” 78 He said: "O Lord, give me respite till the day the dead rise from their graves." 79 (Allah) said: "Respite then is granted thee- 80 “Until the time of the known day.” 81 Said he, 'Now, by Thy glory, I shall pervert them all together, 82 Except Thy servants from among them, the purified ones. 83 (Allah) said: "Then it is just and fitting- and I say what is just and fitting- 84 I shall assuredly fill Gehenna with thee, and with whosoever of them follows thee, all together.' 85 Say (O Muhammad, unto mankind): I ask of you no fee for this, and I am no simulating. 86 This [divine writ,] behold, is no less than a reminder to all the worlds — 87 "And ye shall certainly know the truth of it (all) after a while." 88
