Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the emissary winds, sent one after another (for men's benefit), 1 And the winds that blow violently 2 and raise (clouds) and scatter them around, 3 By those who winnow with a winnowing, 4 And then by those that instil Remembrance into the hearts. 5 To complete the argument or to warn. 6 surely that which you are promised is about to fall! 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 when the mountains shall be scattered 10 And when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed - 11 For what Day was it postponed? 12 For the Day of Sorting out. 13 What will explain to you what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 15 Did We not destroy the ancient people 16 Thereafter We shall cause to follow them the latter ones. 17 Thus do We deal with the sinful ones. 18 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 That is how We reward the good. 21 for an appointed term? 22 Eat and enjoy for a while: You are certainly sinners. 23 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle 25 The living and the dead, 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and filled you with sweet water? 27 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 28 Proceed to that (the Day of Judgment) which you have rejected. 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 which neither gives shade nor protects one from the flames. 31 Indeed, it throws sparks [as huge] as a fortress, 32 Seeming like yellow camels. 33 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 And permission shall not be given to them so that they should offer excuses. 36 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 37 That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)! 38 if you have a trick, try you now to trick Me!' 39 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 40
