The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 Therefore taste it now We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
