The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Allah, the Most Gracious 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He has created man: 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 And the heaven! He hath elevated it, and He hath set the balance. 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 In which are fruits, and covered dates. 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 18 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 From these seas come forth pearls and coral. 22 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
