He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you attend to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and fears (Allah), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And produce therein corn, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
