The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those who range themselves in rows; 1 and restraining [from evil] by a call to restraint, 2 And by oath of the groups that read the Qur’an. 3 Verily your God is One, 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises. 5 We have adorned the lower heaven with the adornment of the stars 6 With security from every froward devil. 7 The devils cannot hear those high above. They would be struck from all sides 8 Outcast, and theirs is a constant (or painful) torment. 9 Except him who snatcheth away a word by stealth, and him then pursueth a glowing flame. 10 So ask them, are they stronger in constitution, or those whom We have created. We have created them of sticky clay. 11 But you wonder, while they mock, 12 And when they are reminded, they remember not. 13 and, when they see a sign, would scoff; 14 And they say: this Qur'an is naught but magic manifest. 15 “When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we certainly be raised again?” 16 What, and our forefathers, the ancients' 17 Say thou: and verily ye; shall then be despicable. 18 So that is just a single jolt, thereupon they will begin staring. 19 They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense." 20 This is the Day of Judgment in which you disbelieved. 21
