And a sign for them is the dead land. We gave it life, and We brought forth from it grains, so that they eat thereof. 33 We have laid out gardens of dates and grapes upon it, and made springs of water flow, 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Glory be to Him Who created pairs of all things, of what the earth grows, and of their kind and of what they do not know. 36 Of the signs for them is how We separated the day from the night and thus they remained in darkness; 37 how the sun moves in its orbit and this is the decree of the Majestic and All-knowing God; 38 And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk. 39 The sun shall not outstrip the moon, nor shall the night outstrip the day. Each is floating in an orbit. 40 Another sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark. 41 and We have created for them the like of it whereon they ride; 42 We drown them if We will, then they have none to cry to, nor can they be saved, 43 Except by way of Mercy from Us, and by way of (world) convenience (to serve them) for a time. 44 When it is said to them: 'Have fear of that which is before you and behind you in order that you find mercy' 45 And whenever a sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord, they always turn away from it! 46 And when it is said to them: 'Spend of that which Allah has given you' the unbelievers say to the believers: 'Are we to feed those whom Allah can feed if He chooses? Surely, you are only in clear error' 47 Further, they say, "When will this promise (come to pass), if what ye say is true?" 48 They will not have to wait long. When the Day of Judgment comes, it will only take a single blast of sound to strike them while they are quarrelling with one another. 49 And they will not be able [to give] any instruction, nor to their people can they return. 50

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
