He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
