The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the mount. 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
