The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and a few from later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
