The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And shade extended 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And couches raised up. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
