The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 But if they [who reject all thought of the Last Hour] were to see a sign [of its approach,] they would turn aside and say: "An ever-recurring delusion!" 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 Sailing, before Our eyes, a reward for him who was denied. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
