NAY, but consider the moon! 32 by the retreating night, 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 A warning to mankind, 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 About the criminals, 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
