He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 you attend to him, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 How We pour water in showers 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
